The fair
Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino fills Lingotto Fiere each May. It is a readers’ fair as much as a trade event, which is good news for authors: editors from Italian houses, especially independents, are often on their stands. Rights business still happens, but the atmosphere is closer to a festival than to Frankfurt.
Advice for visiting authors
- If you want an Italian publisher, this is a more human room than BolognaBookPlus.
- Bring an English one-pager plus a short note on why the book might travel into Italian.
- Expect queues for big-name talks; do your stand walking in the first morning hour.
