The fair
Seoul’s fair sits inside a publishing culture that now sells around the world (think translated literary fiction, webtoons, and a sophisticated children’s list). Incoming authors should not assume the reverse is automatic. Korean publishers who buy foreign rights usually do so through scouts and Frankfurt, but the Seoul fair is the place to understand the market on its own ground.
Advice for visiting authors
- A Korean-language one-pager, even imperfect, is a mark of respect.
- Look at who is already translating your genre into Korean. That is your shortlist.
