The fair
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, this is one of Asia’s largest public book fairs — a retail and cultural event more than a rights market. Useful for seeing Chinese-language and English-language titles in a commercial setting; the wrong place to hunt an editor with a proposal.
Advice for visiting authors
- Go to look at what sells. Go to Frankfurt or BIBF if you need rights meetings in this part of the world.
- English-language sections exist; they are bookshop aisles, not publisher offices.
