The fair
The Budapest International Book Festival gathers Hungarian publishers and a rotating cast of guest countries at HUNGEXPO. It is more festival than rights centre, which for a visiting author is a feature, not a bug.
Advice for visiting authors
- Guest-country pavilions are often the most open to a conversation in English.
- Ask Hungarian publishers which translation grants (Hungarian Books in Translation, and incoming schemes) they already use.
